Hmmm - interesting.

I notice this article isn't from their usual puff piece writer, Ms Lackofritzcrackers or whatever her name is, nor are there any quotes from "pals", and from memory the McCanns were desperate to hang onto Tannerman, so perhaps, for once, the crime reporter has actually used their contacts and generated some real news.

Any idea who might be responsible? It can't be journalists doing their job.

The reason I'm not paying the McCanns a monthly stipend is because I avoid libelling people.

Four possible sources are involved. Grange, Tanner, suspects, the press. Grange have no possible reason to release this and they would be inviting severe trouble if they tried. It cannot be them. Tanner cannot gain from any leak about the affair; quite the reverse. She is "pinned" anyway, unable to act.

The media have almost certainly been given the name in confidence in the past; they may be testing the waters at last - very tentatively. That leaves the couple, who are aware of the undercurrents now swirling.

In other news: graceless, obsessive twitter sock Green Leaper referred to me today as Antonio. Funny that: only the unlamented Misty has ever used that soubriquet. Not the sharpest skewer in the kebab, is she?
